I am: reliable, enthusiastic, fun
What I do: I am an office manager and project manager at The Women’s Media Center. I love that I am making a difference in an area I’m passionate about – not only creating a media environment in which women can be visible and powerful, but also which is welcoming to women and girls.
My “career path”: I took an amazing “Intro to Media Studies” Course in my freshman year of college, and I fell in love with media analysis. This was solidified by my first internship – at Sesame Workshop – and sealed my commitment to children. In particular I want to focus my efforts on media literacy & education for girls and children of color.
My favorite things outside of work: I love reading! That’s first and foremost. I also enjoy eating, dancing, and dressing up for Halloween.
Tips for a successful girlfuture:
• Never be afraid to express yourself and question what’s “normal.” This is how any real change ever happens.
• You absolutely need to work your butt off to succeed in your career. However, you always have to draw a clear line so that work does not take away from family or from yourself. This is EQUALLY important to succeeding in life.
