I am: dependable, fair, practical
What I do: I have been in the Army for 20 years. I am a Lieutenant Colonel and Product Manager in the Acquisition Corps where we develop and field new products and capabilities to soldiers. National defense is the underlying mission of all people who serve in the Armed Forces. For my current assignment, key responsibilities include developing new intelligence radio terminals for the Joint Services and managing the cost, schedule and performance of each product to ensure the taxpayer’s dollar is spent efficiently. I also coordinate efforts with the Air Force, Navy, Marines, United Kingdom and Australia.
I love constantly having new experiences, learning, growing through challenges, traveling, and meeting new people.
My “career path”: During high school, I never imagined that I would end up in the Army. In college, I happened to take an ROTC course my first year – and enjoyed it. The second year I spent abroad in France and realized I did not want to return to the same college. While in France I applied for both a two-year ROTC scholarship and entrance into Boston College and was fortunate enough to get both. I planned on staying in the Army only four years as pay back for the scholarship. At the end of four years I decided to stay…and twenty years later I am still in! It is a career where all people grow – whether physically, emotionally, socially or mentally – and all people have the same opportunity to excel.
My favorite things outside of work: Walking in nature – in the woods or on the beach, swimming, reading, traveling. It wasn’t until several years of working in the Army that I began to really appreciate history. I enjoy reading about and traveling to different historical places.
