What I do: Teton Literacy is a small non-profit bringing educational resources to the valley. I work with children in Kindergarten through 5th grade to improve their reading skills and show them the joys of reading. I help to organize a volunteer tutoring program for students reading behind grade level. I plan the lesson plans and provide materials. I also communicate with teachers in the school district to help support their work in our tutoring program. I also teach enrichment classes such as Spanish classes, book clubs and literature circles for children in Jackson.
My “career path”: My first job was a day camp counselor when I was in 10th grade.
In college, I majored in Public Affairs, so I’ve enjoyed learning new things everyday. This job has inspired me to go back to school in the near future and study to get my masters in education. I hope that one day I can teach 2nd grade and share with students all the wonderful things I have learned.
My favorite things outside of work: When I was growing up I loved dancing, singing and being with my family and friends. I still love all those things now! I have also learned to love hiking, biking and rafting.
